A game jam game:
- Used level design to make the player master a new mechanic

In "The flies game", the player is in control of a huge amount of flies as well as their character. They can either attract the flies toward the character, or release them, making it a powerful weapon.
I created the mechanic by mistake, trying to code a regular shooter.
I found this "bug" interesting, so I tried to find ways to make it interesting. I started to make a battle arena that ended up being a bonus stage for the game.
I then tried to find a few mechanics linked to the flies mechanic, in order to use this in a platformer game level design.
The player can sometime create bridge with their flies, and can lose their flies if they stick in a flypaper trap.
The game forces the player to switch between attracting the flies and releasing them, in order to be in total control of them.
